with Gina Biegel & Stacie Cooper
February 26th—March 18th, 2020 –Wednesdays

What is this Course All About?
Teens don’t have to feel alone or unequipped to journey through the often daunting period of adolescence—the same goes for their parents or guardians!
This 4-week research-based course will allow you to develop mindfulness skills to reduce stress and improve mental health. You will gain important mindfulness skills to become empowered to take control of your well-being, increase your self-esteem, and live life with renewed hope and enthusiasm.
The framework for this series is specifically designed to initiate much-needed conversations about responsibilities as parents and the role parents play in their children’s lives.
The purpose is to transmit information and share knowledge as much as it is to help parents build core skills by engaging in selected topics that can be applied to and transferred to other situations parents will encounter over time. The intention is to provide parents with some strategies for implementing mindfulness-based practices to parenting. The topics and issues parents are faced with change over time given the ages and stages of their kids and the new knowledge they acquire. However, many of parents learn to parent as you parent and need support as you continue to develop in your role as parents.
Who Can Benefit from Participating in this Course
Anyone who has or works with teen(s) is welcome to join this collaboration of learning, sharing, and conversations. Gain new joined understandings on mindful topics in parenting that are relevant to today's teens.

Gina M. Biegel, LMFT, is a psychotherapist, researcher, speaker, and author in the San Francisco Bay Area who specializes in mindfulness-based work with adolescents. She is founder of Stressed Teens, which has been offering mindfulness-based stress reduction for teens (MBSR-T) to adolescents, families, schools, professionals, and the community for over a decade. She created MBSR-T to help teens in a large HMO’s outpatient department of child and adolescent psychiatry whose physical and psychological symptoms were not responding satisfactorily to a multitude of other evidence-based practices. An expert and pioneer in bringing mindfulness-based approaches to youth, she is the author of Be Mindful & Stress Less: 50 Ways to Deal with Your (Crazy) Life, The Stress Reduction Workbook for Teens (first and second edition), the Be Mindful Card Deck for Teens and the forthcoming book Mindfulness for Student Athletes: A Workbook to Help Teens Reduce Stress and Enhance Performance. She also has a mindfulness practice audio CD, Mindfulness for Teens Practices to Reduce Stress and Enhance Well-Being, to complement the MBSR-T program; provides worldwide multi-day training and intensive ten-week online training; and works with teens and families individually and in groups. Her work has been featured on the Today Show, CNN, Reuters, the New York Times, and in Tricycle.
Stacie Cooper, Psy.D., Young Adult Life Coach, Certified Teen Wisdom Life Coach, and Mindfulness Instructor certified in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Teens (MBSR-T), has been helping teens and young adults since 2003 to explore, grow, learn, create, overcome, hope, and dream. Over the past 15 years, Stacie has worked in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings, public and private middle and high schools, and colleges and universities. She has been involved with Girls Incorporated of Orange County as a volunteer, student mentor, and motivational speaker; she served as their keynote speaker for the 2016 Eureka! college-bound health and wellness promotion summer camp for teen girls.
